Plan an export
Estimate the media payload from a bitrate, or work backward from a file budget. No video file is needed.
Use 0 kbps for silent video. Mbps means millions of bits per second; kbps means thousands.
Estimated media size
- Decimal megabytes
- 60.96 MB
- Binary mebibytes
- 58.14 MiB
Estimate includes audio and video payload. Container metadata adds to the finished file.
Payload bytes = duration × (video bits/second + audio bits/second) ÷ 8.
Leave space, then verify the export
1 MB is 1,000,000 bytes; 1 MiB is 1,048,576 bytes. A 60-second video at 8 Mbps with 128 kbps audio has about 60.96 MB of media payload, or 58.14 MiB.
Variable bitrate, codec behavior, subtitles and container overhead can change the final size. The editable 5% reserve is a planning allowance, not a guarantee. Use average bitrates where available, and inspect the exported file before an upload.
This calculator does not compress a video or validate a platform’s upload requirements. A lower bitrate can affect quality; compare a short export with motion and fine detail before choosing it.
