Switch from Sprout Social to Reeling: a one-project pilot

Separate customer-care ticketing and governance from video publishing first. Run a one-project pilot and verify account eligibility before changing seat licenses.

By Reeling Team. Examples describe the documented implementation; no live publishing test is implied.

Separate publishing from enterprise customer care

List every workflow currently handled in Sprout Social: video publishing, Smart Inbox routing, review management, CRM ticketing, social listening and multi-step approval governance. Reeling is a lightweight video publishing and REST/MCP workspace, not an enterprise customer-care or listening suite.

Evaluate Reeling only when your actual need is project-based video preparation and scheduling without per-seat enterprise overhead. If SLA tracking, CRM tickets or formal compliance archives are mandatory, keep those operations in an enterprise system.

Preserve approval and reporting records

Before testing a post in Reeling, record the approved copy, video asset, owner and target schedule in your team's system of record. Approval history, message assignments and historical reports in Sprout Social do not transfer to Reeling.

Verify whether Reeling's per-network metrics and inbox coverage satisfy your reporting needs before reducing seat counts on your current contract.

Reconnect one real project

Create a Reeling account, open Projects and create the workspace for your pilot. Connect only the pilot destinations through their standard authorization flow. Confirm that the connected profile or channel matches your intended brand account.

Check the current platform requirements before planning a broader rollout. Instagram currently requires tester access in Reeling. TikTok inbox delivery requires manual completion in TikTok; it is not public Direct Post.

Recreate one representative post

Use owned media and approved copy for a single destination. Attach the final video export, select the channel and verify the schedule time and timezone. Pause the corresponding draft in Sprout Social so the post is not sent by both platforms.

Use the migration worksheet to track the pilot post ID, scheduled time and verification owner.

Verify delivery before moving the queue

At the scheduled time, inspect the per-destination result in Reeling and open the live post on the target platform. An accepted or queued status is not proof of public publication. With the REST API or MCP server, inspect GET /api/v1/posts/:id before retrying any uncertain request.

Choose a cutover date and keep a fallback

Export historical analytics, campaign tags and compliance records from Sprout Social before changing your renewal terms. Move publishing in small, verified batches and keep any required customer-care or listening workflows in place.
